Cat Care Society's Suellen Scott escorted spunky, young Andrew, an orange classic tabby with fabulous markings, to 9News Petline9 today. The segment was hosted by Chief Meteorologist Kathy Sabine.
Brought in as a stray to Cat Care Society, Andrew is neutered, dewormed, tests negative for FIV & FeLV, vaccinated for URI and distemper. He is microchipped and litter box trained. He is an indoor cat with lots of energy looking for a forever home with no small children. Remember, Andrew is teething and in the kitten biting stage; we are trying to teach him to play with toys and not hands.
Andrew needs a guardian that will continue to show him appropriate play.
He is also very cuddly and a very sweet boy... ready for moving to his forever home.

Sept/Oct Forever Home Updates from Cat Care Society Alumni
Congratulations to these Cat Care Kitties on finding their forever homes recently!
Nicoli - Has a cute nerdy name of Dexter and loves checking out squirrels from the window. His owner also adopted Chowder from CCS a few weeks back and they are gradually becoming friends. Dexter likes to play with the cat dancer wand toy and hiding a stuffed mouse in the house.
Ludo - His new name is Monty and the owner describes him as very loving and mellow. He doesn’t care too much for being picked up but likes to sit by her for his daily dose of petting.
Prissy - Is now Daisy and she was adopted by an older woman. She loves laps and affection and likes to be her owner’s shadow by following her around the house which she shares with a 10 year old male cat.
Hedwig - likes having her own bedroom and the handmade cat nip pouches her owner gives and shares her space (but not her room!) with two 4 year old dogs.
Moekie - is now Kathryn the Grey but will settle for the nickname Kate. She loves her owner’s lap, shredded Friskies, and her special blanket on the couch.
Bennie - was our special needs kitten who was born with some birth defects concerning a defective abdominal wall and bowed rear leg. He is a frisky little guy with a big name of Sir Archer Funny-Foot and gives off a super purr for his new home.
Laurel and Hardy - These two partners in crime now go by the name Molly and Pete. They stayed in the owner’s guest room for the first few day and then explored the house together. They are described as being sweet and affectionate to family and friends. Their favorite past time is window watching and batting at the window prisms that hang nearby to be entertained by the reflective designs that dance on the walls.

Xconomy: 'Clovis Oncology CEO Mahaffy Opens Up About Company’s Turbulent Year'
Quoting from the Oct 17th article by Michael Davidson:
"Seeing your cornerstone product 'fail spectacularly' and then your stock price climb more than 300 percent within eight months makes for an interesting year. But it’s nothing to get overly worked up about, according to Clovis Oncology CEO Patrick Mahaffy.
Clovis (NASDAQ: CLVS) is a biotech company based in Boulder, CO. The four-year-old company specializes in acquiring, developing, and commercializing cancer treatments.
Clovis has seen those lows and highs over the past year, and a few weeks ago Xconomy interviewed Mahaffy at a conference hosted by the Colorado BioScience Association."

Xconomy: 'Colorado Biotech Searches for a Few More Investors, Anchor Tenants'
Xconomy Boulder/Denver reporter Michael Davidson reports on the status of our area's biotech cluster...including standouts Array BioPharma and Clovis Oncology, Colorado's two “major league companies” with at least $100 million in cash and short-term investments...and thoughts from his interviews with Pat Mahaffy, Ron Squarer and Kyle Lefkoff at the recent Rocky Mountain Life Science Investor and Partnering Conference in Denver.
Quoting from the article about the local pipeline:
"the numbers show Colorado is doing fairly well in its weight class, to use a boxing analogy. According to the Colorado BioScience Association, there are 600 bioscience companies in the state, which include biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, agricultural-bio, and pharmaceutical companies. Together they employ about 27,000 people.
Investors also know their way to Colorado. Over the past five years, venture capital firms have invested $1.63 billion in Colorado companies, and during that time larger companies have spent $10.17 billion to acquire companies based in Colorado.
Colorado also recently invested heavily in upgrading research facilities. Major projects are underway at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Fitzsimons Life Science District near the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. They are intended to create institutes or facilities that catalyze the growth of companies in the area."
