"The Cat Care Society's Tails of the Painted Cats fundraiser has proven so popular that it's become an annual event: Each year, the fanciful fiberglass felines decorated by local artists make the rounds to different galleries and art districts before winding up at a gala auction at the end of July. (This year's culminating Painted Cats Gala is July 20 at the Pinehurst Country Club). In the meantime, there's one last stop where you can ogle the cute kittehs in person: The Festival of Felines, a June 29 open house and facility tour at the Cat Care Society no-kill shelter."
