Earlier this year, Cat Care Society was accepted as a Best Friends 'No More Homeless Pets' network partner and for the first time is participating in Best Friends' national 'Back In Black' adoption event, held annually in November.
Adoption special: all Cat Care Society black cats will be "Name Your Price" for the month of November.
Quoting from the Back in Black backgrounder: "Although they’re every bit as adorable and sweet as other animals, pets in black often wait longer for homes than their lighter-colored pals. So Best Friends created the Back in Black campaign to shine a spotlight on these often-overlooked pets and help them find good homes."
Most recently, researchers at Colorado State University, led by Dr. Lori Kogan, examined color-coded adoption data, and verified a long-held belief that cats with black coats stay longer in shelters.
