"Tails of the Painted Cats, the Cat Care Society's biggest fundraiser of the year, brought in more than $55,000 on Saturday night, according to a spokesman for the Lakewood-based nonprofit...Top winning bid was $10,000 for "Broadway Betty," a dazzling green concoction by Ella Buchholz. Following were "Celeste, Celestial Cat of the Heavens" by Sheila Bobay McFather, which fetched $3,500, and "Green Eyed Lady" by Pam Schmidt, at $3,000. The latter was signed by the original members of the band Sugarloaf."

Attended by over 170 patrons, the auction brought in over $55,000 to help the cats in the shelter’s care...Highlights of the evening included the event’s Master of Ceremonies Ed Greene of CBS4 and Cherry Hills Village Mayor Douglas M. Tisdale, Esq, event auctioneer."
