America's continued international competitiveness depends on building on our successes and fostering economic growth. The biopharmaceutical sector is one of those successes. Moreover, it has been one of the few sources of good news during the recession of 2008. While private-sector employment was declining, the biopharmaceutical sector grew by 1.4 percent."
